My story
I´m Carolina Navarro the creator and owner of Tatanka.
I grew up in Chile, South America, looking at the big Andes mountains everyday and digging my toes into the sand.
Always been interested in the Native American cultures and tribal beliefs. Tatanka means buffalo in Lakota language.
I found the call to become an artisan after leaving a normal and conservative life, and began to work with leather and beads after a lengthy travel around the world in the year 2015.
I didn't have someone to teach me the art of crafting, but I play around and I always believe in what my hands can do. But I do believe that the “craftsman DNA” was passed down to me from my grandfather whom I never met. He used to work with leather, making shoes and many other leather crafts.
Now i live in the place I choose to call home, you will find me in the heart of the garden route, South Africa, surrounded by forest, mountain and so much nature.
I feel so lucky to do what I love and that I can share every piece I make.
Everything starts as a dream and I make it a reality, so everyone can enjoy it and love it as I do!
